BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Medical Political Action Committee (LAMPAC), the political arm of the Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS), announces the following endorsements for the 2017 fall state elections.
LAMPAC endorses state Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia, in the race for Louisiana State Treasurer.
“Senator Riser has a proven record during his tenure in the legislature of supporting the practice of medicine and working to allow the physicians of Louisiana to treat their patients in the most efficient and effective manner,” said LAMPAC Chairman Dr. Robert Bass. “LAMPAC looks forward to Senator Riser’s continuing his work to improve the practice of medicine in our state from whichever office he holds.”
LAMPAC endorses Craig Greene, M.D. in the race for the 2nd District Public Service Commissioner’s seat.
“I'm thrilled to have the endorsement of the Louisiana State Medical Society,” Greene said. “It means a great deal to have the support and trust of my peers.”
Bass said, “We are fortunate to have both a physician and a small businessman who is willing and able to dedicate the time needed to serve our state in an elected position that is so important to all of our citizens – the fair regulation of utilities. LAMPAC is thrilled to support Dr. Greene is his endeavor.”
The primary election date for both races is October 14, and the general election date, if needed, is slated for November 18.
