YOUR LSMS MEMBERSHIP
The Importance of Being a Member
As we begin 2016, your membership in the LSMS has never been more important to you and your chosen profession. Between the bleak financial outlook recently presented by Governor John Bell Edwards to the continued Federal regulatory burdens placed on backs of physicians; running a successful practice while continuing to provide your patients access to quality and affordable health care will prove to be challenging, to say the least. The LSMS is here to help! We will continue to advocate, communicate, educate and collaborate across the state on your behalf, and for your patients as well. Please click here to join today.
Why Membership Renewals are Important
Membership is important to ensure the vitality of every professional association and the Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS) is no exception. Membership in the LSMS introduces physicians, residents, fellows and medical students to member benefits, yet membership renewals help us to determine how well we meet the needs of our members by providing relevant resources. Members remain in the LSMS because they believe their membership helps their profession and their patients. Please help us educate members about what you do for patients, their families and within your community. It is important to have a good mix of new members and returning members; the future success of the LSMS depends on it. It also takes more effort to recruit a new member than it does to keep an existing one. A returning member who sees the value and impact of the LSMS is our best advocate for recruiting future members. Renewing members are an important part of achieving our annual membership goals as these renewals provide a solid base who in turn help us build a strong community network and future leaders within the LSMS. New and Exciting Offering for 2016
In 2016 the LSMS will launch the inaugural LSMS Leadership Academy in conjunction with LSU and the E.J. Ourso College of Business Administration. We’ll also be piloting our “Walk with a Doctor” program throughout the Baton Rouge area before we take it statewide. Additionally, we’re planning many new educational opportunities for members as well; the first will be our Physicians P.R.E.P (Promoting Responsible and Effective Prescribing) program, which will attempt to address the growing Opioid epidemic in Louisiana. Lastly, you will continue to receive our world class publications, newsletters, legislative updates and e-alerts. Again, don’t get left behind --- join or renew today.
